Herndon offers two $1000 college scholarships annually to high school seniors who have been a member of our club as a player, referee, coach or volunteer.
TIM RYAN SCHOLARSHIP HISTORY
Herndon Youth Soccer has awarded $1000 college scholarships annually since 2008 in honor and memory of Tim Ryan, a long time Herndon coach and volunteer.
Tim Ryan passed away in 2007 after a long and valiant battle with cancer. In his life, he dedicated much of his time coaching his children's soccer teams in HYS from U5 Microkicks to recreational All-Stars, and he was instrumental in founding and coaching successful travel teams. Tim fought his battle with cancer the same way he lived his life: with optimism, strength and faith. He exemplified the spirit of good sportsmanship and volunteerism prized by every youth sports organization, and we are honored to award these scholarships in his name.
